Leadtree Genus Details

Leadtree is native to tropical U.S. and naturalized in Florida. The trees grow to 30' tall with white flowers borne in fluffy balls 1 1/2" wide. The leaves are evergreen and twice compound with a feathery texture. The fruit is a narrow reddish-brown pod 6" long. The seeds and pods are edible and the plant is grown as fodder for cattle and goats.
